What is Chiropractic - Long Answer

This is the international symbol for chiropractic medicine

A Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) is a real doctor and receives as many years of professional training as a family physician (MD) or a dentist (DDS).

Student doctors pursuing various specialties usually earn an undergraduate degree first and then progress to several years of specialized training, culminating with medical doctors spending many months in residency at a hospital, and doctors of dentistry treating real patients in dental school clinics.

What is Dr. Rick’s undergraduate degree? Mathematics.

In their last year at chiropractic college, Doctors of Chiropractic gain real world experience by treating—under the supervision of highly experienced chiropractors—men, women and children at chiropractic clinics connected with their schools.

Dr. Tavares did his clinical work at the New York Chiropractic College public clinic in Buffalo, Ney York.

Chiropractors are also trained to prescribe therapeutic exercise, provide nutritional counselling, and recommend rehabilitation and injury prevention strategies.

The degree is conferred after a minimum of ten 15-week trimesters (three years and four months total, equivalent to five academic years or 4,620 hours of study). The program concentrates on the science, art, and philosophy of chiropractic treatment.

Dr. Mike The Chiropractor“A particularly important part of my education at NYCC was in developing ‘the touch’ where our fingers are so very important in determining where problems lie within the back and neck, and then making the adjustments with precision and care,” says Dr. Rick.
